Cloudfone Geo 402q exclusive from Globe! Specifications and Initial Review

A few weeks ago mom asked for my help in claiming her 'free' phone from Globe's Loyalty Rewards Program. The list of 'free' phones that didn't have a cash out price were disappointing to say the least. IMO, the best one that was offered was the Cloudfone Geo 402q.

At the time, if not for this YouTube video. I wouldn't have known the specs of the Cloudfone Geo 402q! Thanks a bunch kuya! The official Cloudfone website wasn't even updated then. The Globe website didn't have a complete spec sheet either. It only provided basic info: 4" screen, 8 MP camera, Android KitKat and Dual Sim! If you do a quick search on the Cloudfone Geo 402q today, you'd at least get one result from a local tech site. The official Cloudfone site had also been updated to include the Geo 402q.

Anyway, let's get into it:

Cloudfone Geo 402q Box
The unit comes with an LTE sim. Should you wish to use it, you need to call the hotline and have them activate the sim for you. Mom opted out so I can't give you an ETA on how long it takes for an old Globe sim to become deactivated and for the new one to be activated. I assume it could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

 What's in the box?
Unit, battery extra back cover, earphones, charger, manual, and warranty card

Android KitKat easter egg
Cloudfone modified the easter egg. When you click on "Android version" under Settings > About, an "F" pops up instead of a "K" you need to make that spin a few times to get to the red screen pictured above. I haven't been able to make the 'puzzle' pop up on the Geo 402q though. I'm not quite sure why.

FYIs (For Your Information)

While the box only says Dual Sim, the Geo 402q actually supports one regular sim and one micro sim (FYI 1). I would take a picture of the sim slots, but that back cover is a little tricky to get off (FYI 2). Unlike other back covers, the Geo 402q's back cover lacks notches!

Specifications:
  • 4" IPS OGS Gorilla Glass Touchscreen
  • 3G, WiFi
  • Android 4.4 Kitkat
  • 8MP Rear Camera w/ Flash, 2MP Front Camera
  • 1.3 GHz Quad Core Processor
  • ROM: 4GB, RAM: 1GB
  • Dual SIM, Dual Standby
  • FREE Extra Colored Back Cover
Only available with Globe

PROs:

Freebies
Extra colored back cover and free (already applied) screen protector!
Standby Time
Excellent standby time! Mom uses the phone for calls and text only. After the initial charge, the Cloudfone Geo 402q lasted a week before it needed charging!

Here's a screenshot of the batt stats:

CONs:

Nothing yet. Since I'm not the one using this phone I can't give any more insight. If mom brings up something I'll update this post.

- Awesome styles

They have something for everyone. Sexy, girly and of course, basics!

- Wide variety of choices

As of last night, there were still a lot of styles and sizes to choose from. The sale isn't limited to one or two styles from a collection. All of the bras are on sale!

How to Enable Developer Options for Android Jellybean (ex: Cherry Mobile Flare HD) and Android Kitkat (ex: Asus Zenfone)

Google's Android 4.2 update comes without Developer Options disabled. If you need it enabled, keep reading! I'm going to keep this short and sweet (but image heavy)!

How to enable Developer options on an Android Jellybean (done on my Cherry Mobile Flare HD):

Go to Settings > About phone

Tap on the Build number 7 times

Yes 7 times!

Developer Options enabled!
Developer options now visible under Settings > System

How to enable Developer options on an Android Jellybean running Zen UI (done on my Asus Zenfone 5):

Go to Settings About phone

then go to Software information

Click on Build number 7 times

Developer Options enabled!

How to enable Developer options on an Android KitKat running Zen UI (done on my sister's Asus Zenfone 4):

Go to Settings > About Phone

then go to Software information

Click on Build number 7 times

Developer Options enabled!

Developer options now visible under Settings > System

There you go! Procedure for other Androids 4.2 and above should be the same. You just navigate to where the Build number is displayed and click on it 7 times to enable Developer Options.

One of the most common features used under Developer Options is USB debugging. One reason to have it enabled is if you're looking into rooting your Android phone.

Interested in rooting your Asus Zenfone? Watch out for the tutorial soon!

Where to buy cheap Ball Mason Jars in the Philippines?

Mason Jar 250 mL - Click Image to Close
Mason Jars (Source)
Mason jars have been all the rage lately, but they've been around for quite a while now. And by that, I mean, since the 1800s! They were invented for home canning. But now they're being used for a multitude of things:

One of the most widely known manufacturer of mason jars is the Ball Corporation.

Where to Buy?

You can always buy mason jars online. There are a few local online specialty shops that sell Ball Mason Jars. However, they either sell it in sets, meaning the jar, the lid and a straw for a lot more than how much it would cost to buy each piece at a wholesale price. Then there are stores that sell the mason jars in sets of 6 and 12, but in order to make a profit they have it at 50% (sometimes higher) markup.

So Where to Buy it Cheap?

At your local Department Store!

Robinsons Place Antipolo opened last month. Went there last Sunday with my mom and my uncle. Inside their Department Store is where I found and bought a Ball 16oz Wide Mouth Pint Jar (69.75 Php) and a Ball 32oz Regular Mouth Quart Jar (89.75 Php). They also had a Quilted Crystal Jelly Jar for around 99 Php and a Ball Heritage Collection Sprng Green Mason Jar for around 130 Php (Can't remember the exact prices! Apologies!).

To compare, if you Google "mason jar philippines" the first few shops sell a 16oz Wide Mouth Pint Jar for 107-140 Php. While a 32oz Regular Mouth Quart Jar goes for around 130-150 Php.

Here are some pics of Danbo with my mason jars:

I'll update this post with more pictures soon!

Same with my other Where to buy entry, purrlease don't hoard these for reselling! I need a few more! jk :P No srsly! The money we save can go towards buying the stuff to put inside the mason jars!

What do you plan on using mason jars for? Comment below!
